where we're going from here

In the last issue, I briefly touched on the subject of graphic design and how we wanted to find a comfortable, cutting-edge aesthetic look for Wine X. So this time around, I'd like to fill you in on what new editorial features are headed your way this year.

Starting in the next issue, Vol. 2.5, we'll be featuring a column on pairing wine (and other beverages) with television. Periodically, our TV critic, Marni "She Really has Too Much Free Time on Her Hands!" Mayerson will review the hot (or not so hot) television shows and suggest wines to get us through them. It's a fun and creative look at what to drink while indulging in America's most favorite pastime.

On the subject of the tube, we'll soon be featuring a section on pairing wine and beer with movie rentals. Plans are still in the preliminary stages, but we hope to be able to offer you a discount on a video rental and a rebate on a wine or beer. Pretty cool, huh? More details will follow next issue.

Our Sex, Wine & Rock n' Roll section has made big sound waves, so to flesh-out the "sex" part, we'll be adding a wine and fashion pictorial called G-Spot (the "G" is for glamour, of course). I know what you're thinking: how in the hell are they gonna pull that off? Well, you'll have to stick around to find out. In addition, working with Cafe Music Network, we'll be featuring the top 25 CDs played in their cafes, coffee houses and wine bars around the United States, with a spotlight on the top artist. Look for this starting in the next issue.

Another user-friendly addition to Wine X will be our X-Rated Pocket Wine Buying Guide. Hopefully by summer we'll be including it in every issue. This comprehensive, self-contained, ready-to-go guide will be tipped (gummed) in for easy removal and reference. And unlike other magazines' pocket guides, ours will list ALL wines reviewed in each issue to help you when looking for that right bottle of wine, regardless of price.

Well, that's a little of what you can expect from us this coming year. As always, we're pushing the envelope of wine (and alcohol) journalism to reflect your lifestyle and how these wonderful libations can fit into it. Because remember -- wine isn't a lifestyle, it's a complement to one.
